Paradox and Progress: Dealing with Ambivalence
You’re six sessions in to working with your client and nothing seems to be moving along anymore. You start ticking things off in your mind: You’ve done your assessment, provided psycho-education, your client has hit some wins with ERP, but now they’re stuck. The pressure to fix it is ramping up. You’re not sure what to do next. You can see that your client is stuck in the loop of OCD, but they’re resisting. They’re finding it hard to trust the process. What now?
Learning Outcomes:
We will explore a new strategy that focuses on navigating the ambivalence of OCD through a nuanced intervention to accompany ERP. It’s a tool to introduce when nothing else seems to be helping your clients along.
The aim of this strategy is to tackle treatment resistance, foster therapeutic alignment, and balance the ambivalence inherent in OCD when it comes to ERP treatment so our clients can make progress.
The workshop will include a case study and will give you an opportunity to practice the skills taught in real time with opportunity for reflection and debrief.
When: Tuesday February 11th 2025
Time: 10am - 12pm AEDST (please note that this workshop may go overtime by about 30 minutes so leave plenty of time past midday).
Where: Online via Zoom. A link will be emailed to you as well as resources closer to the day of the workshop.
CPD points: 3
This workshop will assume prior ERP knowledge as well as prior ACT knowledge.
The workshop cost includes access to the live session, access to the recording of the workshop after the live session, as well as workshop materials. This means that if you can’t make it live you can watch it back later.
